The Texas Trip
In November of 2004, my Dad and step Mom moved from Antioch, CA to Livingston, TX. They wanted a more peaceful, less congested and cheaper place to retire. My Dad insisted on moving himself instead of hiring a moving company to do the moving for them. In the process of doing so, my Dad purchased a used 1984 E350 14' Box Van to haul his furniture and other stuff from the house. After the move, my Dad was going to sell the van. Before he did, I called him and asked if I could buy it. He said sure and on January 14th, I flew to Houston, TX. My Dad picked me up from the airport and off to Livingston we went. I spent the weekend with them and saw some very interesting things while I was there.
You know you are not in California when:
*There is smoking in every building (and almost everyone is
smoking)*
*You can drive on the shoulder of the highway to let others pass you*
*You can go 70MPH on local streets and highways*
*Local businesses are located right off the freeway. Not off to another road,
but right off the freeway!*
*FIREWORKS stands are on almost every corner year round.*
*A family of four walks into a restaurant all wearing camouflage (including the
baby!).*
Needless to say, they live a bit different than I am used to, but I was comfortable there and had a great time. I took some pictures of my dad's place and of the new 30'x50' garage he just had built.
Here is my new pin mover. Overkill I know, but it has a Tommy Lift Gate ;-)
Richard's (aka Someotherguy) Pins in Houston, TX.
Tim Hanian's Pinball Palace! (my Dad
took these pics. I forgot my camera!!!)
I asked for Tim's permission to post the pics. What an awesome site...
More coming soon...
